Founded in 1988, ATA in Brazil began in an unintentional way. It was not the arrival of a company or organization, but the emergence of teachers passionate about Songahm taekwondo who learned from the ATA, which was already emerging as a leader in martial arts teaching, not because of the numbers, but because of its organization and defined methodology.
In Brazil, it began in Foz do Iguaçu and moved down to Rio Grande do Sul. The city of Santa Maria also had one of its management headquarters. But it was from a small town nearby, Cruz Alta, that two important characters in this story emerged. Ricardo Plentz and Ademar Andrade were born in the same town where the writer Érico Veríssimo was born. People who, despite being born in the same city, followed different paths over the course of more than thirty years. And so they managed to instinctively build a thriving, functional and solid ATA.
Today, ATA Martial Arts do Brasil is run by Chief Master Ademar Andrade and Senior Master Ricardo Plentz. Much of what the organization is comes from the talent and experience of both.
